HRSA's Completion of Health Center Initiative Is Cited at Presidential Event

March 4: HRSA Administrator Elizabeth Duke joined President Bush and Vice President Cheney on stage for an event celebrating the Administration’s accomplishments at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. HRSA was invited to participate in recognition of successful completion of the President’s Health Center Initiative.

By creating 1,236 new or expanded health center sites, the number of patients served annually at health centers has risen by more than 4.7 million, a nearly 50 percent increase in just five years.

In 2006, the number of patients served at more than 4,000 health center delivery sites topped the 15 million mark for the first time.
