One of the Federal Preservation Institute's (FPI) goals is to provide information to Federal Preservation Officers and others about training opportunities in historic preservation.

The Federal Training Work Group (FTWG) is a montly meeting of federal historic preservation professionals in Washington, DC. FPI sponsors an electronic archive of presentations delivered at more than 70 FTWG meetings since the venture was established in 2000.

FPI also develops training programs for use by federal agencies and other historic preservation practioners, such as The Law, Cultural Heritage, and Consultation with Native Americans, a web-based training module.
