Learning Community Workgroups
""

As part of the technical assistance follow up to the Homeless Policy Academies, four Learning Community Workgroups were conducted.

The Learning Community Workgroups aim to enhance States’ ability to implement the priorities and strategies detailed in the action plans and the valuable work already in process (more Background/History). Based on discussions with State teams, Federal partners, and TA providers, four topics have been identified as common themes, challenges, and promising practices across States. They are:

  1. Youth/Young Adults
"Preventing and Resolving Homelessness Through Successful Transitions for Youth and Young Adults"
    May 4–5, 2006
    Phoenix, AZ
**Click for Workgroup Documents, Resources and Links**
  2. Employment
"Work to End Homelessness: Linking Systems for Employment Outcomes"
    August 10–11, 2006
    Minneapolis, MN
**Click for Workgroup Documents, Resources and Links**
  3. Transition/Discharge Planning
"Preventing and Resolving Chronic Homelessness Through Successful Transitions and Effective Discharge Planning"
    September 28–29, 2006
    Philadelphia, PA
**Click for Workgroup Documents, Resources and Links**
  4. Data/Outcome Measurement
    "Data Learning Community Workgroup"
    November 30 – December 1, 2006

**Click for Workgroup Documents, Resources and Links**

The Learning Community Workgroup objectives within each topic area are to:

  • Maximize peer-to-peer learning
  • Address what helps and hinders implementation of State action plans
  • Highlight innovative approaches that States have implemented, with a focus on how they may be adapted in other States
  • Stimulate communication within the Learning Community Workgroup that will prompt States to utilize and leverage different resources around them and across systems.
