Ohio Community Service Council.

RSVP Director Honored for Volunteer Service

Mary Kathern Smalley served as the first director of the Gallia-Jackson-Vinton RSVP, when the program was founded in 1973. After she retired in 1986, Mary Kathern became an RSVP volunteer and still volunteers today. In August she was honored with the Presidential Lifetime Service Award for serving over 4000 hours in service to her community.

On December 28, she was honored with a community birthday party in celebration of her 90th birthday. Mrs. Smalley resides near Jackson, on the family farm she and her husband operated for many years. The family farming business continues today under the direction of her son and family.

Congratulations and Happy Birthday Mary Kathern!
