DeWitt Stetten, Jr., Memorial Fellowship in the History of Biomedical Sciences and Technology - The Stetten Memorial Fellowship seeks to encourage historical research and writing about biomedical sciences and technology by providing a postdoctoral student, at the beginning stages of the professional career, with a year's research experience in residence at the Office of NIH History. Interim or Year-Off IRTA Fellowship Program - Interim or Year-Off Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA) Fellowships are designed to augment the educational preparation and development of future scientists by supporting a period of research training in laboratories at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland and selected off-campus locations. To be eligible, candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have been accepted or are currently enrolled in graduate, doctoral or medical degree programs in accredited U.S. universities.  In addition they must have written permission from their school to delay matriculation or to interrupt their current educational program in order to spend a year in training at the NIH. Intramural NIAID Research Opportunities - A National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases program for underrepresented minority students interested in exploring career opportunities in allergy, immunology and infectious diseases. Research Supplements for Individuals with Disabilities - These NIH administrative supplements are awarded to Principal Investigators to extend opportunities to individuals with qualifying disabilities who are capable of entering or resuming research careers. Under this initiative the NIH will offer supplemental awards to certain ongoing research grants to encourage individuals with disabilities to pursue biomedical, behavioral, clinical or social science research careers. Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research - Selected applicants will join one of NIH's research laboratories for a minimum of eight weeks between late May and August. At the end of the summer, students are strongly encouraged to participate in the Summer Research Program Poster Day. This provides an opportunity for students to present their work before the NIH scientific community. Students are also expected to participate in meetings and seminars in their individual laboratories. In addition, with permission from their preceptors, students may also attend formal lectures and symposia which are listed in the weekly "NIH Calendar of Events." (National Institutes of Health)

Summers of Discovery Research Training Award - Summers of Discovery Program for which Intramural Research Training Awards (IRTAs) are given to outstanding high school, college undergraduate and graduates students interested in pursuing careers in the biomedical/ biological sciences. Scientific disciplines within the DIR include neurosciences, biophysics, genetics, carcinogenesis, reproductive and developmental biology, chemistry, pharmacology, pulmonary pathobiology, classical and functional toxicology, clinical research, statistics, biomathematics, epidemiology, computer modeling and risk assessment. Technical Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA) - Technical Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA) fellowships are designed to produce a cadre of highly trained support professionals capable of performing the latest advanced techniques in a research laboratory. These fellowships are available in the intramural laboratories at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland and selected off-campus locations. In addition to the developmental experiences afforded to participants in the laboratory, additional training at accredited institutions as well as through the Foundation for the Advanced Education in the Sciences is available. The Graduate Program Partnerships (GPP) - The Graduate Program Partnerships (GPP) initiative links the NIH with universities in the graduate level training of students. Students in the Graduate Program Partnerships spend their first year at the university while studying graduate level courses. In the second year, students move partially or completely to the NIH campus for their research and continue in higher-level graduate courses. The following years are dedicated completely to research. Affiliation with the home university is maintained throughout the graduate program experience. (National Institutes of Health)
