Task Force Welcomes New Members Two new members joined the National Task Force on Prevention and Treatment of Obesity in June. Rudolph L. Leibel, M.D., is professor of pediatrics and medicine, Division of Molecular Genetics, and co-director of the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Walter Pories, M.D., is professor of surgery and biochemistry, Department of Surgery, Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Rotating off the Task Force are F. Xavier Pi-Sunyer, M.D., director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) New York Obesity Research Center at St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital Center, and Roland L. Weiniser, M.D., Dr.P.H., professor and chair of the Department of Nutrition Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Left to right: Dr. Rudolph L.
