When Visiting the National Institutes of Health From the Doubletree Hotel to NIH The Twinbrook Metro Station is located behind the hotel. Take the Metro Red Line toward the Glenmont Station. The Medical Center Metro stop is the third stop from the hotel. From Metro to NIH Gateway Center The Medical Center Red Line Metro stop is located right outside of the NIH campus. Upon exiting the Metro stop, follow the signs pointing to the NIH entrance, pass through the turnstile, and enter into the NIH Gateway Center on your left to undergo a security check. NIH Gateway Center Security Procedure Everyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Everyone 16 and older must bring and present one form of government-issued picture ID at the NIH Gateway Center. (Two IDs are required for orange alert days.) Similar to airport security, everyone in the group will walk through a magnetometer, have personal belongings inspected, and be given an NIH visitor pass. We advise you to travel light to the campus to expedite the security process. Directions to the Natcher Conference Center Via a walking path: exiting the NIH Gateway Center, you may follow the walking path that begins to the right of the Center and is lined with signs pointing to the National Library of Medicine (38) and Natcher (45). You will walk through a parking lot, grassy area, and between two buildings. When you walk pass a day care center on your left, follow the pedestrian walkway toward the front of the Natcher Conference Center (45). Via "Limited" campus shuttle: you may catch this bus from the bus shelters across the circular drive in front of the Gateway Center. Get off at the stop in front of the Natcher Building (Building 45). Your meeting will take place in Rooms E1/E2. There will be directional signs at the entrance to the building. Ground Transportation to Hotel Driving Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) Take Route 195 West to Exit 4/I-95 South, then head West on I-495 toward Silver Spring, and take Exit 34/Route 355 North (Wisconsin Avenue/Rockville Pike). Proceed approximately 3 to 4 miles on Rockville Pike, and the Doubletree Hotel will be on your right after the Rollins Avenue/Twinbrook Parkway Intersection. Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) Take 110 North/George Washington Parkway to I-495 North. When you are on I-495 North, bear to the left to get to I-270 North toward Frederick and get off at Exit 4A (Montrose Road East). Proceed approximately 2 to 3 miles, and make a left onto Rockville Pike (Route 355 North). Proceed on Rockville Pike through four stoplights, and the Doubletree Hotel will be on your right. Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) Take VA-267 (Washington Dulles Access and Toll Road) East to I-495 North heading toward Rockville, and take I-270 North toward Frederick. Exit at 4A Montrose Road East, proceed approximately 2 to 3 miles, and make a left onto Rockville Pike (Route 355 North). Proceed on Rockville Pike through four stoplights, and the Doubletree Hotel will be on your right. Points North Take I-95 South to I-495 West toward Silver Spring.
