H.R. 1736—Sickle Cell Treatment Act of 2003

On April, 10, 2003, Representative Danny Davis (D-IL) introduced the Sickle Cell Treatment Act of 2003. The bill would amend title XIX of the Social Security Act to include primary and secondary preventative medical strategies for children and adults with Sickle Cell Disease as medical assistance under the medicaid program, and for other purposes. H.R. 1736 was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Also on April 10, Senator James Talent (R-MO) introduced the companion measure, S. 874, which was referred to the Senate Committee on Finance.
