S. 874Sickle Cell Treatment Act of 2003
On April, 10, 2003, Senator James Talent (R-MO) introduced the Sickle Cell
Treatment Act of 2003. The bill would amend title XIX of the Social Security
Act to include primary and secondary preventative medical strategies for
children and adults with Sickle Cell Disease as medical assistance under the
medicaid program, and for other purposes. S. 874 was referred to the Senate
Committee on Finance. Also on April 10, Representative Danny Davis (D-IL)
introduced the companion measure, H.R. 1736, which was referred to the House
Committee on Energy and Commerce.
