- Development of complex ANOVA methods and software for analysis of images from intricate FMRI studies involving multiple/nested classes of subjects and tasks
- Development of tools to support the new NIfTI-1 volumetric image format, created in collaboration with BrainVoyager, FSL, SPM, and other FMRI software developers under the aegis of the NIMH and NINDS extramural programs; this improvement will be a big step forwards for interoperability of the various brain image data analysis packages
- Creation and implementation of cortical-surface based analysis and visualization tools, including surface-based intersubject FMRI analyses
- Software for diffusion tensor imaging analysis and display
- Extension of the FMRI time series regression code to allow finer control over the statistical tests being performed on the results complicated deconvolution models
- Real-time image acquisition into AFNI on the new GE Excite platform (a capability that was lost with the recent MRI scanner upgrades)
- Improved automatic skull stripping and Talairach-ization of brain images
