Alaska Native Tumor Registry

Now a full member of the SEER Program, the Alaska Native Tumor Registry (ANTR) was initiated in 1974 in collaboration with NCI and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. From the outset, the procedures and policies followed were those of the NCI SEER Program, and the registry received technical assistance from SEER over a number of years.

In 1999, the ANTR completed its first survival analysis, Alaska Native Cancer Survival Report (PDF), which was distributed statewide to medical providers, tribal health board members, and key tribal personnel. An update of cancer incidence for Alaska Natives statewide and by Service Unit was completed in May 2001. In 2002, a report on overall Alaska Native Mortality, 1989-1998 (PDF) became available.
