An administrative infrastructure centered around a Steering Committee has been established to provide guidance over the Program, and for co-ordination of co-sponsoring Institutes and multi-Institute projects. The steering committee meets regularly and addresses issues relating to all aspects of the program, including research areas, selection of IRA Awards, and symposia and lectures.
The Steering Committee is made up of representatives appointed by the Scientific Director of participating co-sponsoring Institutes. The range of expertise represented includes autoimmune disease; neurophysiology of aging; molecular and cellular immunology and T cell selection; viral immunology and neuroimmunology; autoimmune diseases of the eye and visual system; and neural immune factors in pain. As the Program continues to evolve, more members will be added to the steering committee to assure full representation from participating co-sponsoring institutes.
