Congressional Internships
Each summer, I offer volunteer and paid internship positions in my Utulei and Washington offices. The positions vary from one week (for volunteers) to ten weeks, spending at least ten hours, but generally forty hours, per week in the office. Duties vary from office to office, with interns learning about Congress and their community by assisting with administrative, legislative, casework, and community outreach projects.
The Rules of the House of Representatives prohibit me from paying any transportation costs, lodging or other daily costs which may be incurred while working in the office. To be considered, each applicant should provide proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university for the preceding semester, a letter explaining his or her interest in working in a Congressional office, and for paid positions, proof of eligibility to be employed.
Applications are accepted through the end of April of each year with final selections being made in early May. You may fax your application to 202-225-8757. If you have further questions, please email me at faleomavaega@mail.house.gov. Once selected, every effort is made to accommodate each student's summer schedule. |
