Note: Due to heightened security concerns, tours of many Federal buildings are extremely limited. For updated information, please contact my Washington office at (202) 225-4706 before traveling.

To help make your visit to our Nation’s Capitol a memorable one, we have prepared a brief guide highlighting many of the most popular historic and cultural attractions. If you have questions about any of the attractions, or if you would like more information, please call my Washington D.C. office at (202) 225-4706. Capitol Hill

U.S. Capitol: Due to recent security changes, those desiring a tour of the Capitol must be accompanied by a tour guide or staff member. To schedule a tour of the Capitol and receive up-to-date information and announcements, please contact my Washington office at (202) 225-4706.

Library of Congress - The world's largest library is located on First Street and Independence Avenue, S.E. Tours are conducted Monday – Saturday at 10:30, 11:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 (no 3:30 on Saturday), beginning in the Madison Building. The Library is closed on Sundays and Federal holidays. The Library asks that groups larger than 10 people make reservations. Call the Library directly at (202) 707-0919, or contact my Washington office at (202) 225-4706 for more information.

The Supreme Court - The highest court in the land is located on First Street and Maryland Avenue, N.E. Open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tours are conducted from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., every hour on the half hour, except when Court is in session. No tours on Federal holidays. Union Station – Located on Massachusetts Avenue and First Street, N.E., Union Station is comprised of a rail station, metro stop, specialty shops, restaurants, cinema, and more. Most shops are open 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Monday through Saturday, and from Noon to 6:00 p.m. Sundays.

On the Mall and Downtown

The White House: Located on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave N.W., the White House is now offering tours on a limited basis to constituents. For more information concerning tours, please contact my Washington office at (202) 225-4706 at least six (6) weeks--preferably eight (8) weeks--in advance of your travel to Washington, D.C., and we will submit a request for your tour.

National Archives: Guided tours are only offered to individuals who have reservations for the National Archives, given Monday through Friday either at 10:15 a.m. or 1:15 p.m. Tour reservations can be made by calling the tour office at (202) 501-5205 at least four (4) weeks in advance. Tours are limited to 15 people per group.

U.S. Holocaust Museum - This moving museum tells the story of the Holocaust through artifacts, films, photos and oral histories. Tickets for the permanent exhibit, which are free, are available for specific times and must be obtained the day of your visit. It is recommended that you arrive early to ensure your ability to obtain tickets for the permanent exhibit. Please contact the museum at (202) 488-0400 for more information.

Smithsonian Institution - Museums are open daily, except Christmas Day, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Extended summer hours are determined annually. Please call (202) 357-1300 or (202) 357-2700 for more information.

John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts – The Center is located on New Hampshire Avenue, where regular tours are conducted by Friends of the Kennedy Center volunteers daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. In addition, tickets for constituents are available in my office, with tours running at 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., with free admission to a concert at the end of the day. National Cathedral – Located on Massachusetts and Wisconsin Avenues, N.W., the 14th century Gothic cathedral is the sixth largest in the world and the second largest in the U.S. Open Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and until 9:00 p.m. through August.
