CC SMOKE FREE
Message from the Clinical Center Director
Please help us clear the air around the NIH Clinical Center. Staff, patients, and visitors deserve a healthy environment. I invite you to join us in making a 2007 New Year’s resolution to eliminate smoking in and around the hospital.
Smoking is not permitted inside any NIH building. At the Clinical Center, it's also prohibited within 100 feet of any entrance and anywhere between the north entrance of the Hatfield Center and Center Drive, including the stairways to the Children’s Inn.
To make sure the rules are clear, we have installed new signage to mark no-smoking areas. Posters throughout the facility will serve as reminders. We are confident that individuals will respect the Clinical Center's mission and comply with our policy.
The NIH Police are partners in this effort and will continue to enforce no-smoking inside the CC, including its stairwells and underground parking garages. A security guard hired by the Clinical Center will monitor no-smoking areas outside the building and, when appropriate, offer information about smoking-cessation help.
Protect our patients. Respect our mission. Please observe the Clinical Center’s policy about smoking. Thank you for your support.
