In addition to in-house projects, the Disability and Health
Team, within the CDC, National Center on Birth Defects and
Developmental Disabilities, supports state health departments,
universities, and national organizations to develop state disability
and health programs, implement interventions that promote the health
of people with disabilities throughout their lifespan, deliver
health communication messages, and assess health risks and the

Implementing effective interventions in communities is one of many
important state grantee activities. The CDC is currently able to
fund 16 state disability and health programs.
