River Resource Values and Expectation
A survey of residents in the five Upper Mississippi River states has shown that citizens value and appreciate the river system in complex ways. They also have diverse opinions about how the river system should be managed in the future. The survey, completed in October 1996, was developed and sponsored cooperatively by a number of government agencies to find out how citizens would like to see the Upper Mississippi River System managed in the future. Citizens were asked about the stretches of the Mississippi and Illinois rivers that are most familiar to them.
