The Deputy Assistant to the Secretary
of Defense for Nuclear Matters
(DATSD(NM)) fulfills the nuclear
weapons roles, responsibilities,
and functions for the Assistant
to the Secretary of Defense
for Nuclear and Chemical and
Biological Defense Programs
(ATSD(NCB)) and is supported
by a strong staff of both military
and civilian personnel.
The Office of the DATSD(NM)
(ODATSD(NM)) is the focal point of
all DoD and OSD activities and initiatives
involving nuclear weapons, while serving as the primary point of contact for the Congress, the interagency, and the public. It is comprised of representatives from all aspects of the community, such as the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force, the United States Nuclear Command and Control Systems Support Staff, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, the Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Agency, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, Kansas City Plant, and the National Security Agency.
