Corps of Engineers increasing Libby Dam flows

Contact: Cindy Henriksen (503-808-3945) or Steve Cosgrove (206-764-6957)

Portland, Ore. - Reservoir regulators at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are closely monitoring increasing inflows to Libby Dam.  The Corps is increasing outflows from Libby Dam this week to pass these inflows.  When the April water supply forecast is in, further adjustments to outflow may be necessary.

Libby Reservoir is expected to be near the current flood control elevation of 2395.5 feet at the end of March.  Cindy Henriksen, Chief of the Reservoir Control Center at the Corps’ Northwestern Division headquarters in Portland, said "The Center is waiting for the April final water supply forecast - about April 6 - when the outflow may change again in response to the need to meet a new end-of-April flood control draft point."

The Corps operates and maintains Libby Dam for multiple uses that are consistent with project authorizations and applicable laws and regulations.  The Corps' primary consideration is minimizing risk to human life, health and safety while meeting Libby Dam's purposes and responsibilities.
