Cascadia Earthquakes & Tsunami Hazard Studies
F.S. Sonne Radio MessagesMessages are from Kevin O'Toole. April 24, 1996: The storms are creating havoc with the airguns. Repairs being done at this time. We did have a stretch of 14 hours that everything was in the water (streamer and guns) and data was collected. As of 3 p.m. (24 April) it was calming down a bit but another storm was expected soon. There was no way to tell if or when the surveying would continue. Right now I am putting together a long list of spares and repair items. They have enough to continue if conditions improve but not if they have to rebuild things again. April 26: The weather is a bit better and we are picking up OBS's this morning. If the weather stays down we will start shooting around 6 am Saturday morning. We may need to make a quick run to Astoria for spares early next week.
