Swimming

Photo of Beach

There are two designated swimming beaches at Tuttle Creek Lake. The Tuttle Creek Cove Park beach includes a buoyed swimming area, change houses, open-air rinse shower, and a small playground. A day use fee is charged at this beach. The fee is $1 per person for those thirteen and older, not to exceed $4 per vehicle. A self-pay station is conveniently located on the beach footpath. An annual pass, valid at all Corps beaches nationwide, can be purchased at the Visitor Center or park attendant station for $30.

River Pond State Park includes a large sand beach and buoyed swimming area below the dam, with a modern shower building, mud volleyball courts and sand volleyball courts. Two shades are located on the River Pond beach for users who are sensitive to the sun. An annual pass or daily motor vehicle entrance permit is required.

There is a mile-long natural sand beach along the east side of the lake adjacent to Broken Arrow Ranch and the former Garrison Park. Access by vehicle is difficult due to a steeply rutted abandoned road. But those entering by boat or on foot are rewarded by a gently sloping shoreline and lots of room for sandcastles. Please help keep the beach clean. Remember to pack out trash and refrain from building fires on the ground.

Remember that there are no lifeguards at these beaches. Know your limits, watch the weather, and never swim alone.

There are a few areas at Tuttle Creek Lake which are closed to swimming because of their inherent risks. The area delineated by buoys around the intake tower at the west end of the dam is closed to all boaters and swimmers. Heavy boat traffic at the boat ramps, courtesy docks, and marina make these areas too hazardous for safe swimming.
