Recreation Facility Modernization 2005-2006

The US Army Corps of Engineers at Rathbun Lake completed a $500,000 Recreation Facility Modernization Program in 2006. Most new facilities have been completed. A few facilities are under construction and will be completed by May 2006.

General Facility Improvement Plan

  1. 127 new 50 amp electrical pedestals at non-electric campsites
  2. Replace 53 deteriorated 30-amp pedestals with 50-amp pedestals
  3. Renovate and enlarge 105 campsites
  4. 2 new trailer dump stations (6 total stations)
  5. 6 new water hydrants and water lines
  6. New rinse station at swimming beach
  7. 2 new playgrounds
  8. New swimming beach

Details by Park

  1. Island View Park
    1. Replace 41 30-amp pedestals w/50-amp pedestals (IV D loop 1-45, replace with 41 sites, enlarge all of 41 campsites)
    2. Add 69 new 50-amp pedestals (IV E loop 13,14,16-65 replace with 25 sites; IV B loop 1-5, 10-20, 26-35, 67-73 replace with 44 sites), enlarge all 69 campsites
    3. New four-station trailer dump station (near park entrance booth)
    4. Add six new water hydrants and water lines to B, D and E loops
    5. New water line and rinse station at swimming beach under construction
    6. New playground (Dedication Site shelter area)
    7. Replace twelve 30-amp pedestals with 50-amp pedestals (IV group camp)
    8. Add two 50-amp pedestals at shelter in IV group camp
  2. Buck Creek Park
    1. New two-station trailer dump station (near park entrance station)
    2. New swimming beach, 100 car parking lot, picnic sites (Cedar Circle)
  3. Bridgeview Park
    1. 16 new 50-amp pedestals (F loop, enlarge 12 campsites, build 4 new sites)
    2. New playground (A loop)
  4. Prairie Ridge Park
    1. 26 new 50-amp pedestals (A loop, enlarge all 26 sites)
    2. Enlarge 3 campsites (B 20-25), add 8 new campsites (B loop)
    3. Add sixteen 50-amp pedestals (B loop)
