Recreation Opportunities
Clinton Lake’s 7 parks, located on 15,000 acres surrounding 7,000 acres of surface water provide plenty of space for outdoor recreation activities. Camping, sightseeing, fishing, boating, hiking, bicycling, picnicking and hunting are just a few of the favorite activities.
Bald eagles, white-tailed deer, Canada geese, wild turkey, crappie, walleye, channel catfish, white bass and other wildlife can be found at Clinton Lake. The lake’s fish and wildlife resources provide sightseers, fishermen, and hunters ample opportunities for their sports.
Seven parks have been developed for public recreation. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages five parks, the City of Lawrence manages one park (which includes the Eagle Bend Golf Course), and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks manages Clinton State Park. Recreation facilities include boat ramps, courtesy docks, campgrounds, swimming beaches, picnic areas, playgrounds, hiking trails and the golf course. One marina concession, located in the State Park, provides a full line of marina services.
