Vermont's Child Care and Development Fund Quality Infant/Toddler Earmark:
FY 2006: The Federal CCDF Quality Infant and Toddler Earmark is $144,348.
The funds are used in the following ways to enhance the Vermont infant and toddler child care system (additional funds may be used to support these activities):
- Higher reimbursement rate for infant/toddler care.
- Quality bonus of 17.5% for accredited programs and family child care providers with a CDA or a bonus that can range from 4 to 20% for providers participating in the STARS prgram (depending on the number of STARS awarded).
- Contracts/grants for infant/toddler care that require providers to be accredited or participating in the STARS program, participate in a child care network, maintain individual professional development plans, and have a business plan. The contract/grant reimburses at a higher level to assure professional development opportunities and adequate compensation.
- Expansion/enhancement grants given annually to providers to support the purchase of equipment and training opportunities for regulated providers.
- Touchpoints and Devereau training.
- Accommodation grants to assure infants and toddlers with special needs have access to appropriate care (using several funding sources).
