The Director, Systems and Software Engineering serves as the Functional Advisor (FA) for the following four technical management career fields/paths:

1. Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering (SPRDE) - Systems Engineering
   (SE) Career Path
2. SPRDE - Program Systems Engineer (PSE) Career Path
3. Production, Quality, and Manufacturing (PQM) Career Field
4. Test and Evaluation Career Field

The Deputy Director, Enterprise Development serves as the Functional Area (FA) Executive Secretary for the assigned SPRDE career paths and the PQM career field. Within the Systems and Software Engineering Directorate, the FA-assigned Chairperson for each of the three Functional Integrated Process Teams (FIPTs) is as follows:

1. SPRDE/SE & PSE Career Paths FIPT Chair – Deputy Director, Enterprise Development
2. PQM Career Field FIPT Chair – Senior staff member, Enterprise Development Office
3. T&E Career Field FIPT Chair – Deputy Director, Developmental Test and Evaluation
