At the end of FY 2006, the four military Services had a field level maintenance workforce of approximately 608,000 − 361,000 Active, 167,000 Guard and Reserve, and 80,000 Civilians. The charts below identify the Active, Guard (Army and Air Force), Reserve, and Civilian content of each Service’s field level maintenance workforce by location. Only those locations with 100 or more maintainers are shown. For the Navy, the field level maintainers assigned to ships and aviation squadrons are shown at their homeport locations. The workforce strengths are a combination of both military and civilian maintainers identified in personnel extracts from the Defense Manpower Data Center as of September 2006.
