Mission
The most respected and trusted provider of
the best nuclear material standards and measurement
evaluation services in the world.
Policy
The New Brunswick Laboratory policy is that
the safety and health of its workers, visitors,
the environment, and the public are paramount
in all of its activities.
Initial Focus
Provide the federal government with the capability
to assay uranium-containing materials for the
nation’s developing atomic energy program.
Current Focus
Expanded initial focus, improved methods and
procedures and developed new ones, and added
the capacity to certify and globally distribute
nuclear reference materials and to make plutonium
measurements. Also does work in highly enriched
uranium transparency monitoring, conducts surveys
and inventories at laboratories nationwide,
maintains a cadre of scientists capable of responding
to nuclear emergencies, and collaborates with
local, national, and international laboratories.
