PRC Minority Fellowship Program Opens Four New Positions (2008)

The Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH),* in cooperation with CDC, announces four positions within the ASPH-CDC Prevention Research Centers (PRC) Minority Fellowship Program.

The PRC Minority Fellowship Program provides a unique training opportunity for minority students currently enrolled in doctoral level, research-based (e.g., PhD, DrPH, EdD, ScD) programs at academic institutions with which CDC-funded PRCs are affiliated. The trainees gain practical, first-hand experience in prevention research and contribute to expanding minority representation in the public health prevention research workforce. Projects proposed by prospective fellows must be related to PRC activities and endorsed by PRC directors.

Applicants must be of an underrepresented racial and/or ethnic minority group (includes African American/Black American, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Alaska Native, and Asian/Pacific Islander students). They must have been granted admission to candidacy (completed coursework and passed qualifying exams) prior to the second year of the program and must be a United States citizen or hold a visa permitting permanent residence in the United States to be eligible for the fellowship program.

The application deadline is 5:00 PM (EST) on Friday, March 14, 2008.

Applicants may apply online at http://www.asph.org/fiapplications/positionList.cfm.*

Detailed information and all application materials are posted on the ASPH Web site.*
