NASA Protective Services Contract Implementation Team
A transition team has been formed, operating out of NASA Headquarters. Tom Eye is the Transition Manager for the Agency. Weekly telecoms will be conducted for all Center/Location transition members and HQ representatives. The team will focus on what needs to be done internally to be ready to implement pending the resolution of the current protest.

ARC Emergency Response Exercise
ARC will conduct exercise “Judgment Day,” a three day exercise focusing on an earthquake driven scenario to evaluate the readiness of first responders and Center management’s continuity capability. The complete contingent of ARC emergency assets will be exercised; among them: fire, disaster assistance and rescue team, emergency medical and health, security and senior management will be relocated to an alternate site. The exercise will be supported by the NASA Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and other Center EOCs, to ensure a common operating picture and the Agency’s ability to support incident commanders in the field.

“The Great California ShakeOut” Drill
Elements of DFRC and JPL will participate in the largest earthquake drill in U.S. history. NASA, in conjunction with JPL and the U.S. Geological Survey will employ a variety of earth remote sensing tools; exercise continuity and emergency preparedness plans and evaluate first responder’s capabilities dealing with a catastrophic event. The exercise will be supported by the NASA EOC and other Center EOCs to ensure a common operating picture and also the Agency’s ability to support incident commanders in the field.

MSL Radiological Contingency Planning Meeting #4

VoIP Telephone Operating System Upgrade
The VoIP project will upgrade the operating system on the VoIP Call Manager server from a Windows platform to a Linux (Unix) version. This will provide for greater system stability and less vulnerabilities. It will also allow for future system enhancements that can be used by all Mac and PC users; something the current Windows OS does not provide.
