Using Undistributed Collections (UDC) data analyzed from six jurisdictions, this report discusses the typical characteristics of UDC in each of the Schedule UDC categories and the challenges faced in sorting the jurisdictionsâ¿¿ UDC categories into the Schedule UDC categories. The report compares and contrasts the incidence of UDC within the Schedule UDC categories across four of the jurisdictions and highlights strategies that any jurisdiction can implement to help to reduce UDC in some of the more problematic categories.

This letter is to provide you with an update on the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) restitution letters states may have recently received. The Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) has been discussing this matter with DFAS in an effort to resolve it. We are pleased to inform you that DFAS has provided us with instructions on the process to request a waiver.

DCL-02-20, Family-Unfriendly Child Support Rules

A family-unfriendly child support rule is the requirement to distribute an extra payment in a month to assigned arrearages when this extra payment was intended for current support for the follo9wing month. This may occur when current support due is calculated based on an obligor's weekly or bi-weekly ordered amount. The IV-D office can receive an extra payment in those months when there are five weekly payments or three bi-weekly payments or when an employer sends a monthly payment for current support before it is due when the first of the month falls on the weekend or a holiday.
