This Dear Colleague Letter announces the publication of the Medical Support Collaboration Meetings Summary May - 2006 that is a summary of the two meetings hosted by the Administration for Children and Families in May 2006. At these meetings, Medicaid, State Children¿s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), Child Support Enforcement, Tribal Child Support Enforcement, and Child Welfare State directors from each State developed a plan of action to address identified issues and to assess progress in implementing their plans of action developed at the 2005 meetings.

The Office of Child Support Enforcement and the National Head Start Association (NHSA) have entered into a partnership to assist parents to be more positive influences and provide increased financial support for their children. We will work together to assure that all Head Start programs and local Child Support offices develop partnerships to distribute information on child support services and assist eligible parents to access these services.

DCL-97-12, Child Care Bureau

The Child Care Bureau and the Office of Child Support Enforcement, both of the Administration for Children and Families, are promoting collaboration between the child care and child support enforcement programs. The child care and child support enforcement programs serve many of the same children and families. These programs play important roles in promoting self-sufficiency for families, especially in light of Federal and State welfare reform initiatives.

DCL-04-03, IV-A/ IV-D Collaboration and Electronic Data Exchange

This letter announces the initiation of a joint effort undertaken by the Federal Offices of Child Support Enforcement and Family Assistance to improve the collaboration and electronic exchange of data between state TANF and CSE programs. With this letter, we are soliciting best practices and ideas to highlight system enhancements implemented by states to their electronic interfaces in the area of IV-A/IV-D case referral.

The Office of Child Support Enforcement and the Administration on Developmental Disabilities are promoting collaboration between the Developmental Disabilities and Child Support Enforcement programs at State and local levels. The aim of this collaboration is to promote child support services for eligible families of children with developmental disabilities.

The Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) and the President’s Committee on Mental Retardation (PCMR) are promoting collaboration between agencies and advocates serving people with mental retardation and Child Support Enforcement programs at state and local levels. The aim of this collaboration is to promote child support services for eligible families of children with mental retardation.
