Senator Kerry's offices welcome the assistance of volunteers who wish to experience
the inside workings of a Senate office.

A limited number of volunteer internships in my Capitol Hill office are available
to undergraduate students and DC-area high school students. To start the application
process, complete the Intern
Application form and return it with a cover letter, resume, writing
sample, and two letters of recommendation. Applicants
for internships must be citizens of the United States.
Fall session is full.
We are accepting applications for Winter & Spring.

United States Senate Youth Program
The Boston Senate Office of United States Senator John F. Kerry is currently
looking for undergraduate and graduate students, recent college graduates, veterans
and young people interested in public service in the Greater Boston area to participate
in the Fall internship programs. The internship program is an opportunity
to gain valuable experience and insight into public service and government careers
while working on important local, national and international issues relating
to.:
- Global climate change and renewable energy
- Business and entrepreneurship including biotechnology, robotics and life sciences
- Social, economic and environmental justice and civil rights
- Veterans and military affairs
- Foreign policy and Homeland Security
- Health care, housing and education
Interns work directly with Senate staffers on Congressional casework, respond to constituent inquiries via telephone and written correspondence, conduct outreach to various community organizations, and assist with policy research, writing and press.
In addition to working on designated issues, interns are also responsible for
assisting with administrative duties, helping as needed at Senate events, and
other tasks. The Summer intern program begins in early June (depending on intern's
schedule) and interns are expected to work a minimum of two full days a week
or three half days (approximately 15 hours).
January - month-long intensive program

If you are interested in applying for any of our Boston internship programs, please fill out the Intern Application and email it to the Boston Intern Coordinator or mail it to Intern Coordinator, Office of Senator John Kerry, One Bowdoin Square, 10th Floor, Boston, MA 02114 along with a cover letter, resume, writing sample and recommendation. Only complete application packets will be accepted.
You will be notified via email when we have received your complete application packet. After your application materials are reviewed, selected applicants will be contacted in order to schedule an interview (phone interviews are OK). Due to the number of applicants, please be aware that it may take several weeks before your application status is finalized or you are contacted to set up an interview.
