APPROPRIATIONS & GRANTS
Federal Appropriations Each year Congresswoman Solis invite cities, schools, first responders and non-profit organizations in the 32nd Congressional District to apply for federal assistance for projects which will strengthen our local infrastructure and improve our health, educational and public safety services. Although federal funding is extremely limited and Congresswoman Solis cannot guarantee that the requests submitted by her office will receive funding, she has been successful in securing funding for projects such as renovation of the Kranz community gymnasium in El Monte, improvements to West Covina’s public safety radio system, and technology upgrades for the Valle Lindo School District. Fiscal Year 2009 Federal Appropriations Process As you know, the federal government is operating within a very tight budget. Congress has significantly reduced the number of congressionally requested projects in appropriations bills, and Congresswoman Solis doesn’t anticipate that significant additional funds will be made available in Fiscal Year (FY) 2009. If you have projects that you would like to be considered for possible federal funding assistance, please complete the Appropriations Request Worksheet and submit via email at solis@mail.house.gov or via fax at (202) 225-5467 by close of business Friday, February 22, 2008. Grants Assistance The federal appropriations process is not the only vehicle through which to receive funding for meritorious projects. Congresswoman Solis encourages organizations in the 32nd Congressional District to consider applying for support through the federal grants process. Information about this process is available on my website at www.house.gov/solis or at www.grants.gov.
