Energy Efficiency
- Combined Heat and Power Partnership – This program promotes the use of CHP to reduce the environmental impact of power generation.
- ENERGY STAR – This joint program with the U.S. Department of Energy helps us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.
- Federal Electronics Challenge – EPA works with federal facilities to purchase greener electronic products, reduce impacts of these products during use and manage obsolete electronics in an environmentally safe way.
- Sustainable Infrastructure for Water & Wastewater – EPA helps water utilities improve their energy efficiency.
- Design for the Environment – This program works with industries that combine the potential for chemical risk reduction with improvements in energy efficiency.
- Responsible Appliance Disposal Program – Our Partners recover ozone-depleting chemicals from old refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and humidifiers.
Methane
- AgSTAR – This program encourages the use of methane recovery (biogas) technologies at the confined animal feeding operations that manage manure as liquids or slurries.
- Coalbed Methane Outreach Program – We promote the profitable recovery and use of coal mine methane.
- Landfill Methane Outreach Program – This voluntary assistance and partnership program promotes the use of landfill gas as a renewable, green energy source.
- Methane to Markets – This international initiative advances cost-effective, near-term methane recovery and use as a clean energy source.
- Natural Gas STAR – EPA works with the natural gas industry to reduce emissions of methane, a potent greenhouse gas.
Clean and Renewable Energy
- Green Power Partnership – This program encourages organizations such as Fortune 500 companies, small and medium sized businesses, local, state, and federal governments, and colleges and universities to buy green power.
- Clean Energy Programs – EPA’s Clean Energy Programs are working with state and local policy makers, electric and gas utilities, energy customers, and other key stakeholders to develop clean energy policy and technology solutions.
Transportation
- Best Workplaces for Commuters – This national program recognizes employers who provide commuter benefits such as telework programs, carpooling matching and vanpool subsidies.
- Clean School Bus USA – EPA works to reduce children's exposure to diesel exhaust and the amount of air pollution created by diesel school buses.
- National Clean Diesel Campaign – EPA provides funding for clean diesel programs and fosters the deployment of innovative technologies.
- SmartWay Transport Partnership – This innovative collaboration between EPA and the freight industry increases energy efficiency while significantly reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution.
