Research and Development Uses
Rad NESHAPs
Numerous research efforts have been directed at expanding and developing beneficial uses for phosphogypsum. The phosphate industry, the Florida Institute of Phosphate Research (an agency of the State of Florida), entrepreneurs, and several southeastern universities, including Louisiana State University and the Universities of Florida, Miami, and Georgia, are also actively involved in phosphogypsum research. Research on phosphogypsum has focused on developing commercial uses for phosphogypsum and on developing processes for removing harmful components, such as radium-226, or extracting useful components, such as sulfur.
What information on the use of phosphogypsum for research can I find here?
