Jorgensen Forge Superfund Site
The Jorgensen Forge property is located at 8531 East Marginal Way South, in Seattle, Washington. The site is adjacent to the Boeing Plant 2 facility and is within the boundaries of the Lower Duwamish Waterway Superfund Site. The Jorgensen Forge site is one of several contamination investigations and cleanups taking place in the waterway.
The Jorgensen property has housed steel-related industrial operations since the 1940s. Previous investigations at the site found high concentrations of PCBs, total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead and nickel in soils. Concentrations of TPH and metals exceeding cleanup levels have also been detected in groundwater at the Jorgensen property.
Under U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) oversight, Jorgensen Forge is currently investigating contamination of the sediments and the riverbank at the site.

The Lower Duwamish Waterway Superfund Site is jointly administered by EPA and the Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology), under federal and state cleanup laws. EPA oversees in-river sediment clean-up projects, and Ecology manages source-control efforts to prevent or limit re-contamination.
Under Ecology oversight, Jorgensen Forge will be investigating whether the company's property is an ongoing source of contamination to sediments in the river, under a draft Agreed Order
