Ground-water sitesObjectives: The objectives associated with the ground-water site network were to describe the water quality of these wells and springs and relate the water quality to environmental factors such as geology, land use, and hydrology.Approach: More than 200 wells and springs were randomly selected to represent a range of land use, geologic, and hydrologic settings in the Ozark Plateaus. Sites were sampled once (usually) for a number of water-quality constituents. Water-quality data were described and analyzed using a number of statistical approaches such as box plots, descriptive statistics, non-parametric multiple comparison tests, and correlation. Timing: Sites were sampled in 1993-1995. Targeted constituents: Constituents included major ions, nutrients, pesticides, volatile organic compounds, and other organic compounds, radionuclides, and trace elements (metals). |
