Hello. Recently I installed ISIS2 on a SUSE 10.2 environment. After the installation the KDE is unable to start. What should I do to start KDE again? I have to say that I am not an experienced linux user.
Thank you in advance

Hi George,

We've tested on a SuSE 10.2 machine and experienced the same problem. Once we have a solution we will let you know.

Thanks, Jeff

There are two problems here, first there is a shared library conflict with libgcc. To fix this problem you need to do the following: (NOTE: you may prefer to move the library instead of removing it, just ensure it is moved to a directory that is not in your system paths)
Code:
cd $ISISR/3rdparty/local/lib;
rm libgcc_s.so.1;

At this point you should have no problem with KDE. You should be able to run SUSE 10.2 fine from this point. Unfortunately, during the testing I found the ISIS 2 graphical stuff was broken.

SUSE 10.2 is using upgraded libraries that are not compatible with ISIS 2. Depending on if you are using 32 or 64 bit Linux, you need to download the appropriate patch below and install the files into the ISIS 3rdparty libraries.

Code:
cd $ISISR/3rdparty/local/lib;
tar zxvf /path_to_tar_file/xm32.tar.gz;

After these are in place you should be able to run an application like qview and it should work fine.

Thank you very much. You are really helpful

I am thinking to use ISIS 3 instead of ISIS 2 in SUSE 10.2 enviroment. Are Cassini files supported by ISIS 3?
