Mingo Swamp Friends assists the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service by raising funds and public awareness, and providing volunteers for needed projects on the Mingo National Wildlife Refuge.

Through the generosity of individuals and businesses, and with the help of grants from private foundations, the Friends support a variety of programs that benefit the Refuge. These include:

  • Protecting natural resources

  • Improving trails, boardwalks and shelter

  • Planting and maintaining food plots

  • Supporting educational programs

  • Assisting with public events and activities

  • Operating the Swamp Friends bookstore located in the Visitor Center
