USGS Denver Microbeam Laboratory
The Denver Microbeam Laboratory houses a JEOL 5800LV electron microscope equipped with secondary and backscatterd electron detectors, an energy dispersive x-ray system (EDS), a cryogenic stage, and a cathodoluminescence detector. The instrument can operate at low vacuum (<2 torr) or at low voltage for analysis of uncoated specimens.
Commercial equipment is identified at this web site for clarity and to properly define laboratory capabilities. Such identification does not imply recommendation or endorsement by the USGS, DOI, or the U.S. Government, nor does it imply that the equipment identified is necessarily the best available for the purpose.
