To support commissioning and programmatic activities for the development of works by artists of color. The second phase of a three-year initiative titled Waterworks will involve performing and multidisciplinary artists.

To support the Beyond Broadway Series. Participating artists will include jazz violinist Regina Carter, choreographers Trisha Brown and Bill T. Jones performing world premieres, and composers/musicians Daniel Bernard Romain and Philip Glass.

To support a consortium project to commission a multimedia work titled Five Streams. In a collaboration with MassMOCA, director/filmmaker Ibrahim Quraishi, sound artist DJ Spooky, choreographer Paul Shah, and visual artist Shahzia Sikander will create a work that weaves interlocking narratives drawn from three canonical works of Hindu and Indo-Islamic literature.

To support the annual Next Wave Festival. Now in its 21st year, the festival will feature U.S. artists who have been nurtured by the Brooklyn Academy of Music and will present new works by international artists.

To support a commissioning, production, and touring initiative titled Unintended Consequences. Director Marty Pottenger will create and direct a multimedia performance based on the repercussions of September 11, 2001, on refugee and immigrant communities in Maine.

To support New Works, New Voices 2005 for the 20th anniversary of the Central Park Summerstage program. The project will be a continuation of annual presentations of new cross-disciplinary work or debut presentations by emerging, regional, and international artists.

To support the commissioning and presentation of new and existing works. Projects will include a collaboration between choreographer Ron Brown and singer/composer Nnenna Freelon, Big Dance Theatre, choreographer Cathy Weis, and theater companies Mabou Mines and Penumbra Theatre.

To support performances and related activities of Lincoln Center Festival 2005. The summer festival will feature traditional and contemporary multidisciplinary works as well as symposia and lectures that inform the presentations.
