VENEZUELA: A TOP TRADING PARTNER

U.S. Census Bureau Statistics place Venezuela as our 12th largest trading partner and our 9th largest supplier. American sales to Venezuela rose 13% in 2007, to US$10.2 billion, following a 40% rise in 2006.

Oil and gas field machinery represents a significant portion of the totals exported by the U.S. to Venezuela in any given year. In addition, the modernization of Venezuela’s electricity park has boosted the demand for U.S. electric equipment and machinery. TV, video, and telecommunications equipment is another dynamic segment driven by private consumption and investment. The demand for other products such as automotive parts, medical instruments, and chemicals is also on the rise.
