Z-Medica Corporation

Z-Medica Corporation is the developer and manufacturer of the medical breakthrough family of QuikClot® hemostatic agents that are used to save lives a risk from major bleeding as well as rapidly controlling bleeding in the vast situations of wound management.  QuikClot® is the first in history to enable almost anyone to stop severe arterial or venous bleeding outside the surgical setting.

Z-Medica is a client of Trade Specialist, Sharon Bongiovanni, who has provided export counseling to Z-Medica's international Vice President, Jeffrey Horn, for several years.  The counseling covers export documentation, country specific registration procedures for medical products and most recently processing the Gold Key Service (GKS) for Singapore.

In March 2006, Mr. Horn made initial contact with Commercial Specialist Luanne Theseira, seeking her guidance regarding a trade lead from a Singapore company.  She immediately investigated the legitimacy of the company and advised him to reconsider working with the company since it did not possess solid credentials.  Subsequently, she recommended that Mr. Horn utilize the GKS, because it would provide Z-Medica with a good crop of potential 'qualified' distributors.  CommSpec Theseira provided market entry counseling to Mr. Horn over the next several months which led to Z-Medica's decision to enroll in CS Singapore's GKS program in October 2006.  The GKS was timed to coincide with Hospimedica Asia, a key regional medical products show in Singapore where Z-Medica would have the opportunity to promote their products to Singapore and regional buyers.

CommSpec Theseira and CommAsst Jayacely Joseph, prepared a comprehensive and innovatice 3-day GKS to include meetings with 12 prospective distributors and also assist in the display of Z-Medica's product brochures at Hospimedica Asia.  The catalog display enabled Z-Medica to promote their products to regional buyers and a significant number of sales leads were generated as a result.

In February 2007, Mr. Horn informed CommSpec Theseira that Z-Medica appointed a world-class medical device corporation in Singapore as its distributor for QuikClot® hemostatic agents.  The agreement establishes the Singapore firm as the exclusive distributor for Singapore and Brunei with first option rights to additional regional markets.  Mr. Horn was very pleased with the assistance rendered by CS Singapore and Middletown and wrote: "Luanne, I extend a grateful appreciation to you, Jayacely and the commercial service staff for the extensive work in identifying, screening and qualifying an excellent selection of potential commercial partners in the Singapore region.  Through the resources of the U.S. Commercial Service, Z-Medica is confident it has selected the optimal partner to represent and distribute its QuikClot® family of hemostatic agents in Singapore."
