White-Tailed Deer Management Plan/Envirnomental Impact Statement

Significant progress has been made on development of the White-tailed Deer Management Plan/EIS for Valley Forge. In April 2008, the first internal draft of the plan was completed and reviewed. The second internal draft is currently being reviewed by NPS staff at the national level. A draft for review by the public is expected to be available in early 2009.

Climate

Winters at Valley Forge are cold and damp while spring and fall are cool. Summers are hot and humid. Sturdy hiking shoes are recommended for outdoor recreation during the snowy wintery season.

Did You Know?
Varnum's brigade contained the 1st Rhode Island Regiment, a unit largely made up of African American and Native American soldiers. The unit symbolizes the diversity of the army - a diversity not seen again for many years.
