Doing Business in Sudan

Are you a U.S. individual, firm, or business entity seeking to do business in Sudan? Below is a summary of what you should know about the current U.S. Government economic sanctions on Sudan. More information is downloadable by clicking on the link at the bottom of these paragraphs.

We recommend that you read the attached document in full before considering doing business of any sort in or with Sudan.

The U.S. government has revised its trade restrictions with Southern Sudan.   Under the new Executive Order 13412 the Southern Sudan region is exempt from the trade restrictions involving U.S. goods and American citizens.  There is still a trade restriction for transactions involving the Government of Sudan and any transactions relating to the petroleum or petrochemical industry, from E.O. 13067. Transactions destined for Southern Sudan that are processed through Khartoum, and shipments passing through the Port Sudan, require a license issued by Overseas Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).
