The Department of Labor’s Office of Asset and Resource Management (formerly Office of Competitive Sourcing) is responsible for planning, monitoring and evaluating potential opportunities to improve effective and efficient program delivery in accordance with Office of Management and Budget policies and procedures, Federal Acquisition Regulation, and applicable federal statutes. Commercial Services Management relies on disciplined management practices to improve the operation of commercial functions using a variety of techniques — such as the baselining of performance and costs, and business process reengineering involving the Department’s commercial functions. The Office is also responsible for managing the planning and conducting of the Federal Activities Inventory Reform (FAIR) Act’s inventories of commercial and inherently governmental activities and for performing related reporting requirements as mandated by Public Law. The Office of Asset and Resource Management is located within the Business Operations Center of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management.
