How to Apply

The Fish and Wildlife Service uses an online process to collect resume, assisting in the rating, ranking, and referring candidates for jobs. In keeping with our commitment to facilitate the application process for all job seekers, following are instructions which will help you apply for jobs through our online application process.

Step One:

All applicants must register with USAJOBS, to apply for employment opportunities with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. You will be able to create, edit and archive your resume and other supporting documents, submit a previously created resume, fine tune your job search by agency, occupation, pay or location, and set up an account to automatically notify you as positions of interest become available.

Instructions will guide you through the application process, providing you with detailed information on the questions, forms, and format that must be address and used to capture your qualifications for that job. Be sure to submit all required documents and pay close attention to the application due date and application procedures, which will vary depending on the job.

Step Four:

Complete the Application Process – Application Manager
In the vacancy announcement you will choose the option “Apply on Line”. You will be prompted to select the resume in which you desire to use when applying. You will be brought to the system used by FWS to complete the application process. It is required to complete the biographic information, eligibility information, and other related information pertaining to the job, and complete the assessment questionnaire. You have the option to view or print your answers for review, and submit your responses.

Step Five:

Throughout the application process, you will receive automated notification regarding your application.

The names of the best qualified candidates will be forwarded to the supervisor or hiring official. If you are one of the best-qualified candidates, the supervisor or hiring official may interview you in person or by telephone. Selection procedures are subject to Federal Civil Service laws, which ensure that all applicants receive fair and equal treatment in the hiring process.
