ARS Information Technology Specialist Conference
The Las Cruces, New Mexico, location was kind enough to host the ARS IT Specialist Conference this FY. The conference ran from May 20, 2008, to May 22, 2008. The North Atlantic Area IT Office was represented by Wayne Loeffler, IT Specialist. Other IT Specialists from the North Atlantic Area locations who attended were Tony Langone, Kearneysville, WV, Tim Ashton, Leetown, WV, and Bob Nearpass, Geneva, NY.

New Initiatives
The North Atlantic Area will be Implementing Area-wide Security Scans, as mandated by USDA.
The North Atlantic Area (NAA) is preparing to implement the Department requirement to run security scans against all Area PCs. The ARS OCIO Cybersecurity Branch has been assisting us in this project.
Web Site Analysis Tool
ARS OCIO Web Branch has recently added a web site analysis tool to Site Publisher.

Reminder: Although the other Areas in ARS are well along with or finishing their move to the new consolidated e-mail system, you still need to check your personal contacts periodically, if they are within ARS, and reselect them from the Global Address Book to assure that your e-mails to them go through.
