As part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Federal
Motor Carrier Safety Administration is the bus and truck safety
agency. One of our missions is to reduce highway fatalities while
best ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of passengers.
We issue, administer, and enforce the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Regulations and Commercial Regulations that apply to commercial
motor vehicles transporting passengers.
FMCSA's Commercial Passenger Carrier Safety Division within the
agency's headquarters develops policies, plans, and guidance in
matters related to commercial passenger safety. Division staff persons
respond to stakeholder demands and strive to attain program goals
to best ensure the safe transportation of passengers. This website
was developed as an outreach and educational initiative to the traveling
public to enable them to make safety-informed purchases of interstate
passenger transportation services.
If you do not know what type of transportation service (motorcoach,
school bus, minibus/van, limousine, etc.) best meets your needs, review our guidance on
Vehicle Type Information.
When you know the type of passenger transportation that you want,
enter the necessary information in the "Find a Carrier" section of the website and
you will be provided with a list of interstate passenger transportation
companies with a principal location in your local area.
By clicking on any specific passenger transportation company, you will be provided with a
concise summary of available safety information about the company.
