[04/08] Update: EPA releases 3 IRIS Assessments (see "new" items in the substance list below) that may be started in 2008 in an April 25, 2008 Federal Register Notice.
EPA is releasing the IRIS 2008 agenda which contains a list of chemicals which are currently being assessed and a list of 20 candidates for upcoming IRIS assessments in a December 21, 2007 Federal Register Notice. EPA is soliciting scientific information from the public during the information gathering stage for the assessments listed in the agenda. Interested persons are invited to provide scientific analyses, studies, and other pertinent scientific information. Instructions for submitting information are given below.
IRIS 2008 Agenda: Literature Searches And Request For Information For New Starts
IRIS is an EPA database of human health effects that may result from exposure to chemical substances found in the environment. EPA's process for developing IRIS assessments is described in detail on the IRIS Process Web page.Each year, EPA develops a priority list of chemicals and an annual agenda for the IRIS program and announces new assessments under review.
Starting this year, EPA is following a new process to actively solicit information from the public at the beginning of assessment development. As literature searches are completed for each chemical, the results will be available here (the available ones are listed in the table below). The public is invited to review the literature search results and submit additional information to EPA. Instructions for submitting information are given below. Based on the results of the literature searches and as EPA resources allow, assessments will be started for those chemicals with data that may support development of one or more toxicity values.
